Description: As a teenage girl, Tsunade was notoriously...well...thin. She was curveless, flat-chested and petite. Over the past Turns though, it's as if she's just...bloomed. Perhaps a late bloomer? Though she's still tiny and petite at 5"0', Tsunade definitely filled out; her bones are still fine, almost easily breakable it seems, but what was once a flat-chest and minute curves has matured quite nicely, and there's no doubt Tsunade's a woman now. Okay, so 'matured quite nicely' is a decent way of putting it...Tsunade tends to think of it more as 'Faranth, WHY did I complain about being flat-chested again? Shard it!'
Her skin is very fair, and as such, she is prone to burning horribly. That, and her feminine vanity really doesn’t want any more lines or wrinkles, which the sun gives. She’ll still sunbathe and go outside, of course, just not for long, long periods of time. Another problem her pale skin presents is her proneness to blushing - when Tsunade blushes, everyone knows. She is very self conscious of anyone seeing her even half unclothed - the difficult pregnancy with her son left her with some noticeable reminders, and though they're not incredibly pronounced, Tsunade's still self-conscious enough of herself to not like others seeing them.
Tsunade’s hair was originally cut to her shoulders, but she’s let it grow out a little over the past few Turns, and it now falls to the middle of her back. Tied in two ponytails when she’s not working, a ponytail or a bun when she’s working, she rarely has it out, though when she does, it is a thick, honey-blonde sheet, and straight as a blade of grass, much to her irritation.
For all her snap-happy temper though, Tsunade is one that can smile a lot, and this is evidenced by the dimple in her left cheek, and the slightest crinkling of her almond shaped, pale-lashed eyes. Located under arching dark blonde eyebrows, Tsunade’s eyes are a pale hazel in colour, almost amber, if not amber when she's flared up into a particularly violent mood (good or bad). They could be quite beautiful; however, they’re more disconcerting than anything, almost like a feline homing in on her prey when she glares at you.
Tsunade also has a bad habit of pouting; she knows she has an air of sultry sensuality about her, and she’ll use it to her advantage if need be. A pout from full, well-shaped lips, a cheeky quirk, a playful, sensual smile. Something utterly devestating, and again, she knows it. You name it; she’ll have no qualms to doing it. She might be hot-tempered, but she’s intelligent enough to know how to get what she wants.
Personality:First and most obvious thing when dealing with Tsunade; she’s not what she appears to be. With her physical appearance, she seems soft, sweet, easily manipulated. Anyone who knows her though, will pre-warn you and tell you outright that the sweet appearance is an utter load of wher dung.
Tsunade is NOT, by any means, sweet or soft. The woman is, and has always been from the age she could walk, a total hard-ass, for lack of a better term. She’ll never trust until she’s one hundred percent certain she can, is suspicious of just about every little scheme and rumour, though that is generally an asset, as she has the ability to sniff out any unrest quicker than a wher. She hardly ever let’s anyone get by her, and if they do, she’ll do everything in her power to regain the upper hand, up to and including throwing an object or two.
Which brings us to her temper. Tsunade is, to make an understatement, hot-headed. Fiery, sassy-mouthed with no qualms as to who she’s chewing out, she’s like a miniature fireball, complete with blistering glare. She’s learnt a lot about restraint and patience over the Turns, but it still doesn’t take much for her be set off, and when she goes off, she’s ferocious. As in, ferocious enough to hurl something at you if you’ve really got her hackles up. However, since the birth of her son and her ascension to Masterhealer, she's cooled, it down just a little.
Tsunade is though, when she’s not consumed by fiery single-mindedness, incredibly bright and intelligent. This intelligence mainly stems from a rather long and sharp memory. She can remember all sorts of little things, Weyr related, Healer related or not. Unfortunately, she has a good memory for bad things too, and this can make her moody and depressed at times. Though she looks very good for her age, she can also be quite vain at times, and very meticulous in her appearance; she's aware she's very good-looking, but the holdover of her teenage years as that gawky, flat-chested girl tend to make her very touchy about jabs at her appearance. Not to mention the whole idea of blondes being dumber and smaller people being weaker; she loathes that with a passion.
Her fieriness and her desire to grasp chances better is also put to a good cause though; it makes her very interested and fiercely protective of those under her care. For all her snap-happy temper, she’ll still watch out for everyone within the vicinity, and will fret and watch over anyone who’s ill or maimed in some way until they’re better.
Perhaps the most amusing thing about her is her utter hatred of losing. This means she’ll keep on going, until she has nothing left to bet with. It doesn’t matter what it is she’s losing at. Unfortunately, she also has a fondness for games of the gambling kind - cards, poker, even Truth or Dare style games - and this, combined with her bad luck, tends to make life interesting. Again though, she's really had to make herself behave, because you can't go becoming indebted to your riders now, can you?
Though she is a hard-ass, Tsunade still does have her tender side. It just generally doesn’t show publicly, or unless someone is exceptionally close to her, though by close, it tends to be close in the way her best friend and sometimes lover J’raya is, or her son, Minato, though rarely, she’ll soften for others. The fire is more tempered then, more warm than blazing hot, but still hot enough to make the softer Tsunade passionate as friend, carer and lover, if you’re lucky. She tends to fear the possibility of losing people, but on the whole, she doesn’t like being lonely, and craves security and tenderness in return for placing her feelings in the hands of whoever she places them in.
History:Tsunade is the granddaughter of the Igen Weyrwoman, and the daughter of Tsuyali, rider of green Konath, and Journeymanhealer Kinade. From a young age, Tsunade was shown to have three traits - a gift for healing, a curious intelligence, and one nasty temper when it was roused.
An odd combination perhaps; she was a gentle soul when it came to healing and caring for others, and would often try and sneak into her rooms in the Weyr, past her mother, her foster mother and her grandmother, with some little stray critter or other. She liked mending people's hurts, or trying to, though when someone caused her to lose her temper, she would just as easily have tried to break their nose as she would heal it. This hot temper, combined with her favour with her grandmother, made Tsunade just a little hard to be good friends with, even when she started settling at a later age.
It wasn't to say she had no friends though; she had one very best friend - Jiraya, an orphaned son of two Beastherders in the Weyr and the same age as her. Perhaps it was plain stupidity on his part, or admirable devotion, but the odd, snowy-haired boy was never far from her, nor was she far from him, and they became the most inseperable of friends, getting into all kinds of mischief. It was almost unheard of to see the tall, snowy haired boy without the tiny blonde girl, and vice versa.
Turns passed and at age eleven, Tsunade was apprenticed by the Healercraft Hall. Her gift for healing was fully drawn out and honed, and when she failed to Impress at age fifteen upon returning to Telgar, she grew even more determined to surpass any other and become a Masterhealer. Her dedication paid off, and at age seventeen, Tsunade became a Level One Journeywoman Healer. This failure to Impress caused a temporary rift between herself and her best friend though, for though she had failed, Jiraya, now J'raya, had Impressed to bronze Gamath. Around this time, though, she managed to Impress her first firelizard, brown Naru.
It was a painful rift, all the worse on her best friend's side, and the final blow -though unintentional on her part- came when Tsunade met another rider from J'raya's former weyrling group, D'non, rider of brown Shisuth. D'non became Tsunade's world, and J'raya became coldly distant, much to her confusion. Her life took a dramatic downturn though with the shock outbreak of influenza in the winter of her nineteenth Turn at Igen Weyr; her younger brother, N'den, and D'non, were both ill and despite her efforts, Tsunade could not save them. J'raya too, was sick, and would be left with a huskier voice than he had once had. However, he survived under her care, and it was at this dark time that Tsunade realised the true devotion of her old friend.
He became her constant, holding her when she cried, listening when she cursed, standing there when she screamed and beat him for not leaving her alone to do as she pleased.Their bond became closer than ever, and it was only a matter of time before it all melded together. Somehow, Turns of waiting paid off for J'raya, and though it was rocky at first, it was only natural that they became mates.
It was indeed rocky in some instances, though, with Tsunade struggling to bear children as one. It wasn't so much the desite to have a child at first that got to her, but the fact she could hold down a pregnancy, no matter how many times she fell pregnant. After her third miscarriage, Tsunade left Igen Weyr for a brief time again to pursue her studies as a Healer when she was twenty four, both at the Healer Hall and at Telgar Weyr for a brief time. She eventually returned, though, and in a roundabout but amusing and honestly fortunate way, she fell pregnant at the age of twenty-five.
Eight and a half months later, Minato was born.
Born at Igen Weyr prematurely, both boy and mother nearly didn't survive the birth, and indeed, it took Tsunade weeks to properly recover, and it was touch and go for a while with Minato's health too. Both pulled through though, and despite herself, Tsunade could not help but fall in love with the little baby boy with the wide blue eyes and the pale hair that would be so much like her own. Neither could J'raya completely ignore the little one, it was not his nature, and between his duties as a bronze rider, he made as much effort as possible to visit his son in the creche whenever he could, and unless he was incredibly busy, was never against being found by the boy around the Weyr.
Minato was somewhat luckier than most weyr children in that his mother was a greater fixture in his life for his first few years than most. As a Journeywoman Healer, Tsunade tried as much as possible to be the best maternal figure she could be, and not let her duties stop her from doing that. As such, after the initial worries for the premature boy, Minato ended up growing up into a bright, energetic, if smaller than average, child, and one was hardpressed to keep track of him once he found his legs.
Tsunade finally walked the tables and became a Master of her Craft at the age of thirty, or rather, just a few weeks short of her thirty-first birthday. It was around then she Impressed Memnon, her second flitt, as a gift and a peace offering of sorts from her grandmother, who she had initially formed a rift with over her lack of ambition when it came to Impressing a dragon.
From then on, she worked in her capacity as a Masterhealer of Igen, though she never quite got (and had never quite) gotten along with the other Masterhealer. Still, she spent a good ten Turns there in her home Weyr with her mate, meticulously honing her Healing skills in every way possible. When the rumour came of one of the burgeoning Weyrs asking for official status, though, and the fact it was lacking greatly in riders, Tsunade hardly minded urging her bronze rider to consider transferring.
J'raya heeded her advice, and did just that, but only after he was sure his Wing would be left in good hands, and one of his more prized young Wingseconds, W'lian, had made his way to White Sands Weyr. Thus, with Minato (who was fifteen at the time and chose to accompany his parents), Tsunade came with J'raya to Great Cliffs Weyr.
Age: 10
Dragon/Wher/Fire-lizard Description: This Bronze is positively a runt as far as Bronzes go, but his color could never be denied; a rich, antique Bronze that glitters and shimmers with metallic shine coats him from nose to tail without fault or blemish. Size wise, he is at the far low end of the Bronze spectrum; he would be a mammoth Brown if he was one.
Dragon Personality: Of the two firelizards, Memnon seems to be the one who exhibits every extreme of Tsunade's personality. For the most part, Memnon comes across as dignified and a tad haughty, though not quite arrogant. He's quite aware of the attractiveness of his antique hide and lean proportions, and uses it to make up for the fact that he's not exactly large by bronze standards. However, he's not above being friendly, and is an inquisitive creature under the hauteur, with a cheeky sense of humour that is almost human in the way it is displayed.
Age: 23
Dragon/Wher/Fire-lizard Description: Long-limbed and lean, Naru is a tad bigger than most brown firelizards. He is well proportioned for his size though, with wide, balanced wings and a long, limber head and tail, and a deep chest. His hide is an average shade of dark tan, with the only break being the lighter colouring of his muzzle.
Dragon Personality: Naru is a rather mild-mannered firelizard; he won't fight for anything unless he has to, and never goes deliberately out of his way to cause noise and chaos. He'd much rather curl up wherever his mistress's hatchling is, or laze across her shoulders, or, much to her irritation, J'raya's shoulders. Actually, he tends to start fussing around any male Tsunade might find remotely attractive, so he can be a nuisance. He's a little dense at times, or rather, very sly with what he hears and doesn't hear, but to be honest, he's quite a smart creature, and Tsunade has made sure to train him well so that he may assist in her duties when she needs it.
Other Information:: Weyrmate to J'raya of bronze Gamath. Mother of Minato.
