Description: Minato, or Flash, was a sharding cute boy, and he's growing up into a sharding handsome young man. Not surprising, considering who his mother is, and there's no doubt the kid is the son of Tsunade, with a good haul of his father thrown in for good measure, though unless you know his father well, that's a bit harder to spot.
Though he'll mature to a very sound six foot three, Minato is, for the present, a healthy six foot, so still fairly tall for his age. The one thing more noticeable than anything about the boy is his hair. Short but thick enough so that it seems to fall about his facial features in lazy, yet almost spiky looking manner, it is the same deep, striking honey-blonde as his mother's in tone, further softening a face that has a similar distinct cast to the features on Gamath's rider. High, wide cheek bones, lean but muscular form - if a little malnourished and unfinished sometimes, especially if he's tired or stressed - and skin a natural golden brown in tone, darkened by the sun, Minato can turn heads on first glance, and to top it off, he's inherited that almost lazy, yet calculated walk of his father, whom he clearly idolises.
To make matters worse, the boy has inherited the same large, almond shaped eyes of his mother, however, oddly enough, they are neither dark brown-black or amber; they're not even brown, the colour that both black and amber hues are derived from. No, Minato's eyes only lend further credence to his childhood nickname of Flash, for they are a bright, sky blue nearly always flashing with mischief, or twinkling in amusement or thoughtfulness. It's not known exactly why he turned out with big blue eyes like that, though Tsunade's late younger brother had the same blue eyes, and it is possible that Minato inherited the gene from Tsunade's family line.
Personality: By nature, M'nato can come off as slightly reserved and unfortunately, this can make him look a bit haughty whether he means to be or not, though that might simply stem from the way people view him on first impression. Honestly though, he's just kind of shy and cautious, wishing to know all the details before he jumps in, and can't help but be a bit quiet around new people sometimes, even if he'll never admit to being shy.
Once that is overcome, though, Minato hasn't changed much since his youth, really. He's as bright as ever, as curious as ever, as energetic as ever, and, well, as manipulative and cheeky as ever. He has the type of mind that will work persistently on getting the hang of something or some concept, though if he's not interested or gets bored too easily, you can bet his mind will be off dancing with the firelizards, if he doesn't end up wandering off himself. As such, it's not hard to pinpoint that the boy has picked up at least some of his mother's intelligence, it's just a matter of making him focus and keeping him occupied before he does get bored can present a bit of an issue at times.
Unfortunately, if there's one thing that he won't forget easily when it comes to his intellect, it is his ability to remember things, and to quietly pick and pick and pick some more until he's got a person figured out as much as he's able, and more to the point, until he's figured out what pushes their buttons, whether they're safe or dangerous to mess about with, and just what he has to do to manipulate them if need be. It's where the idea of calling him crafty comes in, as from a young age, he's perfected the ability to get under someone's skin without them actually realising he's done it, yet leaving them with the feeling that he's done just that; they just can't pinpoint it.
He's also a bit of a devil at times, something he no doubt picked up from his darling fatherly figure. Because he can come off as so quiet and absent minded, it's not hard for him to be underestimated, and he doesn't discourage the notion of him being no discernable threat - apart from that odd feeling that he's done something or is going to do something yet it can't be proven unless he outright does it - as it means he can do just as aforementioned. Frankly, he'd probably make an excellent spy for someone if they needed it, though it'd be a matter of conning him into it, and then, outsmarting him into it if cajoling doesn't work.
As for the shutting up part, he simply does that by combining that subtle craftiness with some good old vocabulary. He's no genius, certainly, but doing as he does, he's picked up a fair bit, and takes a fiendish delight in assuming his own opinions and opinions that aren't his own. This, combined with a cheekiness that takes a further delight in teasing people, particularly the ones he's close to, can make him a bit trying on the nerves even as you can't figure out why he's trying your nerves unless you actually *know* him, though he knows where the line is, and though a toe might slink over it now and then, he rarely ever crosses it, and would never actually force someone who was dear to him to do something that could end in a truly harmful manner.
Ironically to all of the above, Minato is, when he's got someone to love, or is close to someone, a very loving person indeed. He has a huge heart for his precious ones, and with that, huge patience and warmth for them where he might have nothing like it for anyone else. Granted, he can be a bit of a flirt sometimes, and amorous (he's weyrbred, after all), but once he's attached to someone well and truly, they'd be hard pressed to shake him off unless they committed some horrific betrayal of trust against him. And then, well, you'd have one upset and yes, admittedly, dark-tempered young man.
History:Born at Igen Weyr prematurely, both boy and mother nearly didn't survive the birth, and indeed, it took Tsunade weeks to properly recover, and it was touch and go for a while with Minato's health too. Both pulled through though, and despite herself, Tsunade could not help but fall in love with the little baby boy with the wide blue eyes and the pale hair that would be so much like her own. Neither could J'raya completely ignore the little one, it was not his nature, and between his duties as a bronze rider, he made as much effort as possible to visit his son in the creche whenever he could, and unless he was incredibly busy, was never against being found by the boy around the Weyr.
Minato was somewhat luckier than most weyr children in that his mother was a greater fixture in his life for his first few years than most. As a Journeywoman Healer, Tsunade tried as much as possible to be the best maternal figure she could be, and not let her age or the still mending (at the time) relationship between herself and her son's father stop her from doing that. As such, after the initial worries for the premature boy, Minato ended up growing up into a bright, energetic, if slightly smaller than average, child, and one was hardpressed to keep track of him once he found his legs.
Once he hit the age of about ten, though, it was clear Minato's shaky beginnings were far from keeping him back. Always a relentless eater (skinny frame aside), he became even more ravenous as he approach puberty, and at thirteen, hit his first growth spurt. This brought him to a very sound five foot nine by age fourteen, also the age where he actually stood for his first Hatching.
He didn't Impress that time around, though, and decided against Impression at Igen Weyr completely for the time being when he learnt his mother and father were leaving for Great Cliffs Weyr. Despite being weyrbred, Minato had always tried to remain as close as possible to his parents, and that aside, was insanely curious about new places. As such, he begged his parents to let him travel with them, which, much to his pleasure, they agreed to after some argument. Thus, under his current status as a Candidate, Minato came to Great Cliffs Weyr.
Family Information:Son of Tsunade, Masterhealer of Great Cliffs Weyr, formerly of Igen, and J'raya of bronze Gamath, Flight Leader of Great Cliffs Weyr and formerly of Igen Weyr. Great grandson of Igen's former Weyrwoman.
